Meet Nana Gyabaah-Kessie
CaRE² is proud to highlight Nana Gyabaah-Kessie, a third-year PhD candidate in Cancer Biology and Genomics at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC).
With more than seven years of research and community leadership experience, Nana is passionate about advancing cancer biology research while creating opportunities to mentor and inspire the next generation of scientists. Her work reflects a commitment to connecting scientific discovery with meaningful community impact.
Nana earned her B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Pittsburgh before spending three years at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in a research-intensive post-baccalaureate program. During her time at the NIH, she contributed to impactful cancer biology research, strengthened her skills in program and project management, and served as a mentor to emerging scientists.
Beyond the laboratory, Nana is deeply committed to community service and mentorship. She has served as a youth leader in her church, a mentor and tutor to students, and a trusted advisor to her younger sister. These experiences have shaped her approach to leadership and strengthened her desire to support others throughout their academic and professional journeys.
As a PhD student, Nana continues to bring her passion for cancer research, mentorship, and community engagement to her work. She is driven by a vision to make a lasting impact in both science and the communities she serves.
